Doing it for the girls! Jonelle Price takes the top prize at Badminton Horse Trials

Jonelle Price became the first female winner of the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials in over a decade when she sealed her victory in the showjumping phase after a super showjumping clear round on her 15 year old British bred mare Classic Moet.

The New Zealander and feisty little black mare won the title after climbing up the leaderboard from 22nd after dressage with two faultless, fast jumping performances.

In an interview Jonelle said "Being a CCI4* winner is an elite club to join and it's been something that has eluded me for a while now, so to now join it ‐ especially here at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials ‐ is very, very special," said Jonelle, who gave birth to her son, Otis, less than 10 months ago.

"I had Lady Luck on my side," beamed Jonelle. "She is a deserving winner despite the luck today".

"It was so tight, I really thought anyone in the top-10 could have won it.

"I'm just so pleased with her and for her owner, Tricia Rickards.

"We haven't ever jumped a clear round on the last day, but sometimes dreams do come true and you have to believe it is possible.

"At 15 years old it just feels like she is getting better and better. Each day we have pulled off what I hoped we would be able to achieve."

Well done to Jonelle and Classic Moet from everyone here at Equetech - flying the flag for the girls!
