Measuring Your Body

1. a. Bust Measurement Stand square and hold your arms out to the side in the shape of a T. Run the tape around the fullest point of the bust or chest. Our jackets take into account extra room for movement, so if you measure 85cm (34”), you will need a 34” jacket.
2. b. Waist Measurement Make sure you relax and put your feet together. Raise you arms in so your body is in the shape of a T and run the tape around the narrowest part of your waist. If it is hard to tell where the narrowest point is, take the measurement from the navel. Make sure there is no slack in the tape measure.
3. c. Inside Leg Measurement Take this measure with your trousers on. Hold the tape high up the inside of the leg at the front fork if the trouser crouch is in a satisfactory position. If the trousers are too high or low, take this into account. Run the tape down the inside of the leg to the ankle bone. Add on 5cm for jodhpurs.

MEASURING YOUR BODY

1. To ensure a perfect fit, it is imperative that your body measurements are correct. To do this you will need someone to help you. Do not try and do it yourself! Take the measurement over clothes and please measure in centimetres. Make sure there is no slack in the tape measure, when measuring the body.
2. Tip - Make sure you wear clothes that you always wear under your jacket or waistcoat, such as shirt and bra.

   Make sure you relax and put your feet together. Raise you arms in so your body is in the shape of a T and run the tape around the narrowest part of your waist. 6. d Shoulder Seam Measurement
   This is easier to take with an existing jacket on. Measure from the collar seam, across the shoulder to the point of the shoulder where the sleeve joins the jacket. If you current jacket shoulder seam is too long or short, take this into consideration and adjust accordingly.
7. e Across Back Measurement
   This is easier to take with an existing jacket on. Look at the back of the jacket and where the sleeves join the jacket should create a curved line. Find the middle of this curve and measure from this point, across the back, to the other sleeve seam.
8. f Centre Back Length Measurement
   This is easier to take with an existing jacket on. With the collar turned up, take the measurement from the base of the collar and run down the centre seam to the desired length of the jacket. The length depends on your personal preference, but we have listed our standard sterling jacket measurements below :

9. f(a) Nape to Waist Measurement (for Tailcoats and Competition Waistcoats only)
   Measure from the base of the neck in the centre (with a jacket on, use the base of the collar seam) and run the tape down the back to the desired point. Take note of this point as the tails measurement is taken from this point.
   
   Tip - Put your competition breeches on and the jacket should finish just below the breeches waistband.
10. f(b) Length of Tails Measurement (for Tailcoats only)
    Use the point of the waist from f(a) and run the tape from this point to the back of the knee for a standard tails measurement. If you have a large horse, you may want the tails to be longer than standard.
11. g Sleeve Length Measurement
    Position your arm for riding, and run the tape from the point of the shoulder to the elbow, hold the tape at the elbow and run the tape to the wrist bone. If you like your sleeve shorter or longer than standard, please take this into account. If you have a jacket with the correct sleeve length, measure from the shoulder seam to the hem on the outside edge.
12. h Bicep Measurement
    Run the tape around the arm at the widest point of the arm above the elbow.
13. j Hip Measurement
    With two fingers under the tape measure around the fullest part of the hip. Stand with your feet together. The tape must run smoothly up and down, in a loop, neither too loose or tight.
