Blue ribbon: If you have a stallion, it good practise to use this ribbon. It avoids mares get too close! 

Green ribbon: Perfect for a young or inexperienced horse, such as its first competition, you can highlight their age/ experience easily. Other riders can give you more room in the warm up, so you and your horse have a good experience.

Pink Ribbon: Warning to other riders that the mare is in season or moody, to highlight to Stallion riders and competitors to keep their distance. 

Red Ribbon: This is probably the most well known ribbon and a warning to other riders that the horse might kick, so they should keep a good distance.
