A Day In The Life Of An Equestrian Lockdown Wardrobe

With lockdown meaning less horsey time, we caught up with our sponsored dressage rider, Rachael Lane to see how she's working her Equetech wardrobe as she goes about her daily routine.

" Life is pretty strange right now, but I've been able to spend some quality time with my little girl, Annie, who has been the best part of all this!  I've always 'lived in' my Equetech riding gear, after all, who has time to change into regular clothing to pop into the supermarket on the way home from the yard or pick up their children from school? If you do, I'm impressed! What I love about Equetech's range is their versatility. Equetech clothes not only feel and perform great in the saddle, but they equally don't look out of place in everyday life situations. During the lockdown my habits for wearing my riding gear have been pretty unbreakable (hence the classic equestrian hairdo!), so here's how I've been wearing mine!

I've been really trying to use this time to keep my fitness up, and my Inspire Leggings have been my perfect 'go-to' fitness legwear for my yoga and running sessions. Home yoga has proved a little challenging as the dog and Annie often want to join in on the mat work! However, I have to say Annie's 'Downward Dog' is very impressive. I've found some great inspiration on YouTube for us both including some fun 'yoga for toddlers' which Annie can enjoy too!

My leggings and Hack-A-Mac have been part of my running kit too. The fabric is really excellent quality with a comfortable stretch, without feeling baggy, so the leg pocket houses my phone perfectly and snuggly. They also wash brilliantly and dry almost instantly - so perfect for my daily run! The Hack-A-Mac is a super lightweight riding jacket which folds up into a neat pouch, so it's portable when not in use. Because it's breathable too, I didn't get hot, but I did stay dry (the same can't be said for the rest of me though!). This jacket virtually lives at the yard with me so I have it to hand if there looks like there might be a sudden shower, I can just pop it on. It will also be coming with me to shows once the lockdown is over for those wet competition warm-up days.

I've always worn my Venture Waterproof Coat for dog walks before the lockdown, because it's just an easy to wear piece. This coat covers the best part of you from the heaviest of rain both on the ground and in the saddle. I really love wearing it, and the fact it might smell a little 'horsey' is the only give-away that it's an equestrian wardrobe essential of mine!

I have literally lived in my Equetech Jean Breeches! They are past season, but like all my Equetech breeches, they just go on and on!! If you haven't got a pair of their new style denim breeches, I highly recommend getting yourself a pair as you will love them! These have superseded my favourite pair of jeans by miles, and I think Annie was pretty impressed with them too (or was she admiring herself in this photo?!).

I love my Equetech belt collection, as well. I have to admit that I love an equestrian-inspired belt and the Equetech collection is gorgeous! I have a black and grey belt and the love wearing them for everyday riding, competition riding and away from the yard, they look super teamed with trousers or as a finish to a dress.

Keeping little ones entertained can be challenging, but for anyone who has a set of bridle numbers and bridle holder, Annie has had hours of fun learning numbers and putting them together. Excellent training for the future as mummy's show groom perhaps?!

These are just a few of the items I wear, and when the warmer weather returns, I'll be looking forward to wearing my new Equetech training tops for the summer months. Will I be wearing these away from the horses? You bet!!"
